Part II: Repairing Your "Women's Empowerment Erosion” 🧰
In Part I of this article, we identified the signs and symptoms women executives and entrepreneurs experience when you’ve lost touch with your full, radiant and creational energy, essence and power.
Here in Part II—I’m going to share a starter guide with you so you can stop working against yourself and begin creating your next level desires and impact with ease, instead of effort.
Here’s an overview I’ve used with clients to repair and reverse “women’s empowerment erosion” and help them step into the full range of their creative, receptive , powerful and radiant selves:
Step 1: Identify the Source of the Erosion by Slowing Down
The first step is creating space to notice where your energy feels most drained or misaligned. And you can’t do that running to your next meeting, taking off for another work trip, or packing your daily schedule to the brim. Take a day—or even just an hour—to step away from the hustle and tune into your body. Ask yourself:
Where am I overextending?
What feels heavy or misaligned?
When do I feel most energized and radiant?
When do I feel safe to relax, trust and receive?
What am I saying to myself about what is or isn’t possible?
Why do I keep operating this way knowing it doesn’t feel good for or to me?
This reflection is essential for pinpointing the area of your life where your feminine power, and trust in it, needs attention, as well as beginning to illuminate the deeply engrained beliefs you carry about your relationship to doing vs being, performing vs flowing, trusting vs controlling.
Step 2: Reconnect with Your Feminine Energy Through Pleasure and Intuition
Empowered women thrive when they are connected to their inner joy and flow. Dedicate time daily to practices that reignite your creativity and pleasure, such as:
Creative Flow: Journal, dance, paint, or engage in an activity that allows you to express yourself without judgment, without limits, absolutely no restrictions.
Intuition Activation: Spend 5 minutes meditating, free-writing, or asking yourself an open-ended question like, “What would feel most nourishing right now?” or “What do I need to know and accept as truth right now?” Trust the answer that arises, even if it feels unconventional, or worse, inconvenient.
Presence Practice: Either out in nature or in a busy city park, alone or in community conversation, be present. Listen intently without needing to make sense of what you’re hearing. Notice what you feel emotionally and physiologically in your body.
Step 3: Build Supportive Structures for Balance
True empowerment doesn’t mean doing it all alone. Evaluate where you can recognize and/or invite more support and reciprocity into your life. This might look like:
Delegating tasks that drain your energy and releasing what you’ve outgrown.
Investing in a mentor, coach, or guide who holds space for your growth, can see what you can not and can guide you through your blind spots, out of your comfort zones, and through your (understandably) righteous indignations.
Building reciprocal relationships where you feel seen and supported as much as you give. This usually requires a healthy dose of reality and truth to parse through your relationships and commitments.
Noticing and acknowledging how your spouse, partner, or lover supports you in ways you hadn’t realized, and/or having the conversations necessary to begin co-creating a different experience of support with and from them.
For my ladies who have a challenging relationship with men and their masculine energy—I can already hear you (and your fear) thinking how they don’t, won’t or can’t show up for you, or speaking negatively about how they do. Notice that. That’s where your "women’s empowerment erosion” work will need to begin.
Step 4: Practice Receiving Without Guilt
One of the most common leaks I see in high-achieving women is a resistance to receiving—whether it’s love, help, compliments, even constructive criticism and direction/correction.
This week, try saying “yes” to every genuine offer of support or kindness without explaining, justifying, worrying, controlling, or shrinking. Try accepting every piece of feedback and guidance believing it’s coming from a place of goodness (aka unconditional positive regard).
Watch how your energy shifts.
Notice how your body responds.
Stay keen to what emotions and reactions surface.
